The Reports

What exactly is in each monthly report?

Each report covers a specific product niche (e.g. Home & Living, Pet Products) and contains:

  • 14–22 pre-screened Chinese suppliers — factory profile, MOQ, lead time, certifications held
  • EU-Readiness Score (0–100) for each supplier — composite score covering documentation, regulatory awareness, and compliance track record
  • Regulation snapshot — which EU rules apply to the niche this month, and what's changing
  • Top 3 shortlist — our recommended suppliers for European buyers, with a short rationale
  • Red flag section — suppliers to avoid and why

Reports are delivered as a PDF (English) and optionally Italian. Average length: 28–36 pages.

How often are reports published?

One report per niche per calendar month. Reports are published approximately on the 21st of each month and are available immediately in your client portal. You'll receive an email notification when each new report is ready.

Can I download past reports?

Yes. All reports published during your active subscription are available to download at any time from your portal. If you cancel and resubscribe, reports published during the gap are not included — you only access reports published while your subscription was active.

Can I see a sample report before subscribing?

Yes — we have a full sample report available. View the sample report . It covers the Home & Living niche and shows the full format including the EU-Readiness Score methodology, supplier profiles, and shortlist.

Can I change my niche after subscribing?

You can request a niche change once per 6-month period. Email us at hello@sinosource.eu and we'll update your profile. The new niche applies from the following month's report.

What if I source from multiple niches?

Each subscription covers one niche. If you source across two niches, you'd need two subscriptions. Contact us — we can offer a small multi-niche discount for the same company.

EU-Readiness Score

How is the EU-Readiness Score calculated?

The EU-Readiness Score (0–100) is a composite assessment across six dimensions, each weighted by relevance to the niche:

  • Documentation (25%) — Do they hold current CE, REACH, GPSR-relevant certificates? Are test reports available and dated within 3 years?
  • EU Responsible Person (20%) — Have they appointed or worked with an EU Responsible Person as required by GPSR?
  • Regulatory awareness (20%) — Can they discuss GPSR, PPWR, or niche-specific regulations knowledgeably?
  • Complaint & recall history (15%) — Have any of their products appeared in Safety Gate (RAPEX) alerts?
  • Communication responsiveness (10%) — Do they respond to compliance questions in English within 48 hours?
  • Track record with EU buyers (10%) — Verified history of supplying EU importers without incident.

Important: The EU-Readiness Score is a comparative intelligence tool, not a legal certification. It does not replace formal conformity assessment. Always engage an accredited laboratory for CE marking and relevant testing.

A supplier scored 82/100 — does that mean they're compliant?

No. A high score means the supplier demonstrates strong awareness, holds relevant documentation, and has a track record with EU buyers — all of which significantly reduce your compliance risk. It does not constitute a legal certification that a specific product meets EU requirements. You remain responsible for ensuring your specific products pass conformity assessment. Use the Score to prioritise which suppliers to engage; use a testing lab to verify specific products.

How do you assess suppliers — do you visit factories?

We conduct remote assessments using: structured questionnaires in Mandarin and English, document review (certificates, test reports, Safety Gate records), reference checks with existing EU buyers, and online due diligence (export records, Alibaba Trade Assurance history). Factory visits are not currently included in standard reports but can be arranged through the Support plan's custom sourcing request feature.

Pricing & Plans

What's the difference between Founding and Base?

The content is identical — same report, same EU-Readiness Score, same shortlist. The only difference is price:

  • Founding Member (€199/mo) — locked-in rate for early subscribers, valid for 3 months. Limited to 3 spots per niche. This rate will not be available once spots are filled.
  • Base (€275/mo) — standard rate, always available.
What does the Support plan include?

Support (€775/mo) includes everything in Base plus:

  • 2 custom sourcing requests per month — ask us to find a specific product, vet a specific supplier, or draft an RFQ in English and Chinese
  • Supplier reply summarisation — we translate and summarise replies from Chinese suppliers
  • One 30-minute strategy call per month
  • Shortlist refinement based on your specific requirements
Is there a minimum contract length?

No. All plans are month-to-month. You can cancel any time with 30 days' notice via the Stripe Customer Portal link in your dashboard. You retain access until the end of the paid period.

Do you offer refunds?

As digital content is made available immediately upon subscription, EU consumer withdrawal rights for digital content do not apply once the content has been delivered (per Art. 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive). However, if you experience a technical issue preventing access to your reports, contact us and we'll resolve it or issue a credit. We want every client to be satisfied — if there's an issue, email us first and we'll work it out.

Getting Started

How do I get my access code after paying?

After payment you'll be redirected to an onboarding page where you fill in your profile (niche, import preferences, compliance focus areas). Within 48 hours you'll receive a welcome email with your personal access code (e.g. IT-HL-001). Enter this at portal.html to access your dashboard.

When will my first report arrive?

Reports are published monthly around the 21st. If you subscribe before the 15th, you'll receive the current month's report. If you subscribe after the 15th, your first report will be the following month's. Your portal will show the exact date of the next report.

Can I share my access code with a colleague?

Access codes are single-user and tied to your subscription. Sharing codes is not permitted. If multiple team members need access, contact us — we can arrange a team arrangement. Systematic code sharing may result in subscription cancellation.

Client Portal

How do I log in to the portal?

Go to sinosource.eu/portal.html and enter your access code (e.g. IT-HL-001). The code is case-insensitive. If you've lost your code, email hello@sinosource.eu with your subscription email address and we'll resend it.

How do I manage my subscription or cancel?

In the portal, go to Profile → Manage Subscription. This opens the Stripe Customer Portal where you can update your payment method, view invoices, and cancel your subscription. No need to contact us to cancel — you can do it entirely self-serve.

How do sourcing requests work? (Support plan)

Support plan clients can submit up to 2 sourcing requests per calendar month via the Requests tab in the portal. Each request can be: a specific supplier vetting, a product sourcing brief, an RFQ draft request, or a compliance question. We aim to respond within 3 business days. Responses appear directly in the portal under the request.

Compliance

Does SinoSource provide legal advice?

No. SinoSource provides commercial intelligence — we assess which suppliers are best positioned to support your EU compliance needs. We are not lawyers and our reports do not constitute legal advice. For formal compliance determinations, product testing, or legal questions, engage a qualified EU Notified Body, accredited testing laboratory, or legal counsel specialising in EU product regulations.

Which EU regulations do you cover?

Our assessments consider all major regulations relevant to each niche. Core regulations we track across all niches:

  • GPSR — General Product Safety Regulation (in force Dec 2024)
  • PPWR — Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation
  • REACH — Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals
  • CE Marking directives (LVD, EMC, Machinery, Toys, PPE — as applicable)
  • CBAM — Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
  • EUDR — EU Deforestation Regulation
  • Forced Labour Regulation (in progress)

See our Regulation Tracker for live status of each regulation.

What is GPSR and why does it matter for importers?

The General Product Safety Regulation (EU 2023/988) replaced the old GPSD in December 2024. Key changes for importers: (1) EU-based importers are now legally classified as "economic operators" with direct liability; (2) every consumer product needs an EU Responsible Person who can be contacted by market surveillance authorities — this must be a natural or legal person with an EU address; (3) digital product passports are being phased in; (4) online marketplace obligations are significantly strengthened. If you import from China and sell to EU consumers, GPSR directly affects you. Read our GPSR guide on the blog
